Board Chair

Kunal Mahajan

Kunal Mahajan serves as Board Chair and Head of External Partnerships of Camp Words Unspoken. Before his position as Board Chair, Kunal was a camp counselor during the 2022 and 2023 summers. Kunal is a person who stutters who has spent 15 years in the banking industry working as a Leveraged Finance and Financial Sponsor Coverage banker before transitioning into the Social Impact space. He built out SMBC’s Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, after finding a new sense of purpose after founding the disabilities, neurodiversity, and mental health Employee Resource Group at SMBC back in 2019. 

 

In addition to his non-profit work with Camp Words Unspoken, he is a Foundations Mentor for Lime Connect, a global non-profit that connects high-achieving students and professionals with disabilities, and has worked closely with several other disability nonprofits including The National Stuttering AssociationReelAbilitiesHLAAVISIONSNAMILittle People of America, etc. 

 

Kunal is also the Founder and Director of UNIQUE: A Show About Disabilities, an initiative to empower the disability community through improv and has studied Improv & Musical Improv at MagnetUCB, and People’s Improv Theater.  He believes in utilizing the improv art form to help underrepresented individuals build their confidence and find their voice and as a way to drive organizational cultural change.
